Installation Instructions and Pattern Repeats

If you are a professional installer, or a do-it-yourselfer, you can install Loose Lay Vinyl.

Conventional old-fashioned vinyl flooring can break or permanently crease, and is very difficult to work with. Loose Lay is very easy to work with because of its unique structural composition. At its core, Loose Lay has a highly resilient fiberglass base, encapsulated with a tough layer of PVC on both sides. Thanks to this revolutionary new construction, your floor has unmatched dimensional stability, eliminating conventional problems of contraction, expansion, curling and cracking, resulting in quicker, easier money-saving installation and higher durability. In addition, Loose Lay, because of its unique construction, is extremely resistant to moisture, unlike traditional resin-backed vinyl. After all, one use of PVC is water pipes!  Remember, it is not recommended that you loose lay any IVC Vinyl if the installation totals more than 25 square yards or requires more than 1 seam.

Materials Needed:

3/8” SHORT NAP PAINT ROLLER
PRESSURE SENSITIVE RELEASABLE ADHESIVE

Roll It On:

Apply adhesive using only a 3/8” NAP ROLLER COVER
Coverage:  290 – 300 sq ft per gallon
Average drying time:  20 minutes (when touched, should not transfer to finger)

Use the recommended roller application method to:
• Decrease incidents of bubbling
• Decrease incidents of sub-floor telegraphing
• Decrease incidents of voided warranty due to indentation

How to Seam and Seal:

1. After adhesive is rolled on and completely dry, double cut the seam with a straightedge at the designated match point.  Hold the straightedge secure and cut through both thicknesses (i.e. double cut) at the same time with a utility knife making sure the knife is held in the up-right position.
2. Remove and discard waste material.
3. Apply a small bead of approved seam sealer on one edge then tuck the seam edges together. Wipe off sealer overflow with a damp (not wet) cloth.  Roll the seam with a hand roller to squeeze any remaining sealer from the seam.  Wipe down the seam with a clean damp cloth followed by a dry cloth.  Allow six hours for the sealer to dry.

Recommended Adhesives and Seam Sealers:

Adhesives:  IVC Flex Tac  *  Taylor 2037  *  Apac 610  *  Henry 630 Peach Pro
Seam Sealers:   IVC Flex Seal  *  Taylor 2062  *  Apac EZ 771  *  Orcon Fast Lock
Materials Needed:   3/8” Nap Paint Roller  *  Pressure Sensitive Releasable Adhesive

Care Immediately After Installation:

After a full spread installation, heavy traffic should be avoided for at least 24 hours to allow the adhesive to set hard. Use professional guides, or a section of carpet turned face down to move furniture, appliances, or other heavy objects.
If the installation is a semi loose-lay or loose-lay type, appliances and heavy objects are to be lifted, not rolled, slid or pushed over the new Loose Lay.
Protect all the seamed areas for the first 8 hours.
Keep the room at a temperature of 68 degrees F for at least two days.
Before use, to remove any residual surface film, clean the new Loose Lay by adding a few drops of dishwashing liquid to warm water.
Rinse thoroughly with clean water and allow floor to dry before walking on it.

General Floor Care:

Your premium cushioned vinyl flooring will provide years of carefree use.  You will find that it is not only beautiful, but durable.  It is also much easier to maintain than most other flooring products, because of the tough protective finish and moisture resistance.

It only takes a few simple care and maintenance steps to keep your floor looking new for years to come.

To Keep Your Floor Clean:

Sweep the floor with a soft bristle broom to remove loose dirt.
Wash the floor with non-abrasive floor cleaner.
For every day maintenance, a mop moistened with warm water will suffice.
Make sure furniture legs have large surface, non-staining floor protectors.  Replace small, narrow metal or dome-shaped glides with smooth, flat glides that are in flat contact with the floor.
Heavy furniture or appliances that are not moved often should be equipped with flat, non-staining composition furniture casters or cups of appropriate size.

DO NOT:

Do not use a steam mop.
Do not use soap based detergents.
Do not use abrasive or mop and shine products.
Do not wax the floor.
Do not use ammonia or bleaches.
Do not use a vacuum with rotating beater bar.

Always read the cautionary information on all cleaners prior to use.

IMPORTANT:  NEVER push, pull or drag furniture, appliances or other items across the floor.  When moving furniture or heavy items, always lift and carry the items.  Use furniture sliders (available at most hardware and general merchandise stores) or place the item on a piece of carpet turned upside down, and slide the item while it is on the carpet.
